Walkable/Public-Transit-Friendly Day Trips 

Los Angeles/Southern California is among the top five most popular vacation destinations in the world. Unfortunately, the City of Angels was also recently voted most disappointing travel destination by members of a popular social networking site. Many LA visitors find the City (and Southern California) too difficult to get around, especially on their own two feet.  Having lived in four of the major counties in Southern California, I know how to use public transportation easily and conveniently to travel to many parts of Southern California. categorizes and highlights “walkable” day trips in Southern California. Our “walkable” day trips consist of one of the following: (1) day trips that you don’t need a car because both you and the day trip are located near a LA Metro Rail Station; and (2) day trips that first require driving but you can then walk to the many highlighted areas. All of our “walkable-transit-friendly day trips” include bikes since bikes are permitted on metro rail trains at all times.

Car-Necessary Day Trips

For some day trips you will need a car to access all or most of what is offered, but we still highlight whether the day trip is Public-Transit or “Walkable” – Friendly.

Kid-Friendly Day Trips

This Category includes day trips that you can bring your kids to at least some of the listed activities and will note kid-friendly activities.

Pet-Friendly Day Trips

This Category includes day trips that you can bring a leashed dog to a few of the listed activities.

Hipster Day Trips

This Category includes day trips that a hipster, either on or off a leash, would find enjoyable because of the eclectic hipster-like activities (e.g., craft beers, hip book store, vinyl, etc.).
